Why Owners Choose Business Brokerage Services

The most valuable landscaping companies in Colorado have a base of commercial, HOA and residential maintenance contracts, a snow removal program that carries the winter, and design build work on top. Buyers pay for that predictability.

Business Brokerage Services has sold landscaping companies across the Front Range. We document your contracts, crews, equipment and seasonality, and we help buyers understand how Colorado’s new turf and equipment rules create opportunity for a company that is ready for them.

Colorado Market Update, 2026

What Has Changed for Colorado Landscaping Companies

Laws, costs and buyer expectations that affect your sale price right now.

New limits on nonfunctional turf (SB24-005)

Since January 1, 2026, nonfunctional turf, nonfunctional artificial turf and invasive plants cannot be installed in new commercial, institutional and industrial development or redevelopment. Water wise and native landscape design is now the standard on those projects.

Gas equipment rules may reach private crews

Colorado’s Regulation 29 already limits summer use of small gas equipment for public work. The Air Quality Control Commission is considering use caps for commercial landscapers in the Denver and North Front Range ozone area, starting at 90% in 2027 and dropping to 10% by 2032, with a hearing set for November 2026.

Battery equipment is becoming a cost line

Companies that have already shifted to battery powered trimmers, blowers and mowers have an edge with public and HOA clients and less exposure to future rules.

Labor stays tight

Like other trades on the Front Range, landscapers compete for workers. Stable crew leaders are one of the most valuable things a buyer acquires.

1 Initial Meeting

It starts with a confidential, no obligation conversation. We learn about your business, your goals and your timeline, and you learn exactly how we work and what to expect.

2 Valuation & Financials

You complete our Business Valuation Intake (BVI), and our team analyzes your financials to determine what your business is truly worth in today’s market.

3 Marketing & Exposure

Our team builds professional marketing materials and takes your business to market through our buyer network and national listing platforms, all without revealing its identity.

4 Buyer Vetting

We screen every inquiry so only serious, financially capable buyers ever learn the details of your business. Every buyer signs an NDA first.

5 Offers & Negotiation

We help structure and present written offers, then work through price, financing, training and transition until both sides reach an agreement that works.

6 Under Contract & Due Diligence

The buyer verifies financials, operations and contracts while earnest money is held in a neutral escrow account. We keep requests organized and deadlines on track.

7 Lease, License & Entity

We manage the approvals that let the business change hands: your lease assignment, license transfers such as liquor permits, and the buyer’s new legal entity.

8 Closing & Handover

Final documents are signed, funds transfer through escrow and you are paid. A short transition hands off operations, vendors, staff and customers.

Typical timeline: 3 to 9 months from listing to close. Approximately 30% of our listings close within the first 3 months!

They change it. Since 2026, new commercial projects use water wise landscapes, which favors companies with design and native planting expertise.
Not yet. Regulators are considering summer use caps for commercial landscapers in the Front Range ozone area starting in 2027. A final decision is expected after the November 2026 hearing.
Many do, but some require client consent. We review each contract and plan the transfer.
We show it separately because it smooths winter cash flow, which buyers and lenders value.
Most sales close 3 to 9 months from listing, with an average of about 150 days. Approximately 30% of our listings close within the first 3 months. Many owners list in late fall or winter so buyers can take over before spring.
